Instructor Information:  Martina Celerin trained as a biologist but began experimenting with painting and then progressed to weaving. In her weaving she now incorporates objects, textures and shapes, as well as colors into the canvas. By combining this with needle felting she creates weaving-felting fusions that are 3-D tapestries.

Workshop Description:  In the first day of the workshop Martina Celerin will introduce participants to weaving with reclaimed and recycled materials using nail looms and pick-up sticks. She will also demonstrate Soumak weave, weaving with wire, etc. On the second day depth will be introduced into the weavings using crochet and wet felted pieces and other techniques. Day three will focus on needle felting using dyed wools and yarns to create objects that can be incorporated into the weavings.

Materials:  Some remnants or scraps from your stash. The Instructor will provide nail looms, pickup sticks, crochet hooks, hot glue guns, and needle felting needles. She will also supply different fibers (shetland, merino top and merino noils) in various colors.
