Maximum # of students:  10

Workshop Description:  How does spinning yarn for weaving differ from spinning yarns for knitting, crochet, or embroidery? We will spin and sample for weaving, varying fiber choice, twist, grist and color. We will discuss ways the yarns are affected by weaving techniques, and the way weaving techniques are affected by the yarns.

Materials:  Spinning wheel extra bobbins, lazy kate. Spindles are fine, several weights/sizes are often helpful but not necessary. Equipment should be in good working order, and people need to know how to use their equipment, whether it is a wheel or a spindle. People should bring fibers they wish to sample: any fiber, and any preparation. We will discuss each fiber that is brought, how to prepare and spin them for a range of projects, and spin samples.
