EXHIBIT THEMEEXPLORATIONS is an Arizona SDA curated members exhibition challenging members to expand their boundaries and explore its potential. It is important for artists not to become comfortable—to stay in that safe place where one does not risk failure and rejection. EXPLORATIONS celebrates those moves away from that comfortable place to unexplored territories of new techniques, new media, new compositions, or even a different color palette. The goal is not to try something new for newness’ sake, but a journey to a more in-depth way of expressing one’s self.

CURATOR: Carol Eckert – Carol is well known for her compositions of animal symbols and myths from cultures around the world. Her fiber sculptures have become significant additions to private and public collections including Racine Art Museum/Wisconsin, Denver Art Museum/Colorado, Erie Art Museum/Pennsylvania, Museum of Fine Arts/Boston, Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Museum/Washington, DC, de YoungMuseum/San Francisco, Museum of Arts and Design/New York, Mint Museum/North Carolina, and Szombatheli Keptar,/Szombathely,Hungary.
