The THSG Tapestry Study Group will meet on Saturday, October 14 at 9:30 in the modular classroom at the U of A Agricultural Center on Roger Road.

The October meeting will focus on completing and warping our sample looms.  This year we are working through some of the concepts in Kathe Todd Hooker’s book Line in Tapestry.

If you want to build your loom at the meeting, please bring all of your materials to the meeting.  We will have a few tools available to you, but if you have a hammer, a phillips head screwdriver and an ice pick or awl, bring them.

To build your loom, you will need:

–       stretcher bars

–       4 corner brackets

–       ¾ inch flat head nails

–       ruler

–       pencil

–       scissors for warping

If you are ready to warp your loom, we have mined the THSG storage and found enough warp for anyone who would like to use it.  It’s cotton or linen in various weights.  We also have weft.  If you’re ready to weave, you can work on your header.  Our first technical study will be material from Section 3: Creating Horizontal Lines.

Newcomers are welcome.  If you need a handout on how to build your loom, contact the group coordinator, Maddie Tsurusaki at msmarplescat@gmail.com.
